Welcome to the official page for the MLA 2015 special session “Sustainability and Population in American Literary History,” where we hope to continue the conversations of this panel well after the convention is over.  This special session, scheduled for Thursday, 8 January, 3:30–4:45 p.m., in 116, VCC West, begins to answer the recent scholarly calls for a more rigorous definition of sustainability and excavate an American literary history of sustainability and population that begins far earlier than scholars have previously considered.
